Based in Los Angeles, the California Institute of the Arts is widely regarded as the ‘Juilliard of the West.’ Focus is placed on teaching practices that are meant to enrich the actor’s global perspective and a semester is spent abroad in Scotland. Let’s take a closer look at this acting school.

The Acting Program at California Institute of the Arts offers classically centered training with an eye toward the future. The courses are designed to prepare young dramatists for the challenges of this century as well as guide them to versatility and professional success.

Accordingly, the program seeks talented performers who are engaged with their imaginations, guided by their passions, ready to embrace their natural skills and compelled to speak their stories in a bold voice.

The programs are comprehensive training for all artists who intend to venture into theatre. Students are taught the art of analyzing text, developing their body and voice, as well as the skill of interpreting any dramatic piece for any performance. They also come to appreciate the value of hard work, self-discipline and accountability.

In addition to coursework, acting students hone their skills by performing in studio projects, student-directed scenes and plays, and full productions directed by faculty, student directors and guest artists. Tuition is only $48,680 per annum and is a great place to become connected to television, film and other areas of the industry.

Programs Offered:   Acting, BFA, MFA
