The University of Minnesota – Guthrie Theater BFA Actor Training Program – offers an undergraduate training curriculum, which leads to a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree. This program is unique as it combines a core of theatre courses with a liberal arts curriculum.
The University is located in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. The theatre department is basically a strong, conservatory-like acting training in Minneapolis, Minnesota but academic performance also plays a very important role at the university. The philosophy stresses the fact that an educated actor goes on to become the best but training takes precedence.
Freshmen classes consist of about 20 students who will interact with each other throughout the four year period and form an ensemble company. In the fall, juniors get the chance to go to London for the semester to learn. Tuition for acting college is $25,144 out of state while in state tuition is $21,144 each year.
The school’s partnership with the Guthrie Theatre means students get the opportunity to audition in order to become a part of productions and other exciting events.
