Founded in August 17, 1965, Tisch School of Drama at NYU is a center for students who want to study performing and media arts. Tisch is located at 721 Broadway, New York and is a foundation for artists who want to improve their talents.
It’s location makes it ideal for networking, attending all the major productions and celeb events in the vicinity as well as the acquisition of internships to gain experience in the field.
Admission requires an audition and if the applicant is successful, he or she is placed in a studio. A variety of studios are available each having its own method of acting such as Strasberg, Adler, Meisner and Atlantic. Students stay in their designated studio for two years after which the opportunity is given to audition for another.
A good academic record is stressed at Tisch and liberal arts classes are required. The tuition is about $58,226 annually and because it is not a conservatory, students spend only 18 to 24 hours a week on professional training and other activities at the school such as workshops. This all depends on the studio in which the student is assigned for the first two years of the course of study.
