The American University is a member of the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area and is located in the Spring Valley neighborhood of Northwest Washington on an 84 acre property that has a rich botanical history.

The Princeton Review’s annual survey named this institution the most politically active school in 2010 and 2012.

The available theatre programs will provide the knowledge required to become successful whether your desired profession lies in or outside the theatre. Liberal arts plays a vital role in both the theatre and theatre music programs and students are encouraged to develop their own chain of thoughts despite the training provided. Fulltime students who register for 12 to 17 credit hours are required to pay a fee of $20,658 with an additional charge of $1,376 for credits that exceed 17.

Students have always had the opportunity to work closely with internationally acclaimed artists when they attend classes, productions and other extra-curricular activities such as workshops. Some of these individuals include Broadway Director Scott Ellis, Hollywood actor Herb Edelman and Emmy winner Gary Dontzig.
